...and will be welcoming students back to a new simulation area in January 2012. Although school is out now, we are still hard at work extending our simulation areas to present the best learning experiences possible for our students. Workmen should have this area completed before the University of Wyoming closes down for winter break, Friday December 23-January 2, 2012. They are adding two observation windows and a new room for Sim Man 3G (top-of-the-line adult simulation manikin) and for our little SimNewbie (newborn baby simulator).
The University of Wyoming Fay W. Whitney School of Nursing has completed a remodeling project intended to give our newest simulator “SimMan3G” a home of his own in our simulation lab which currently houses obstetrics simulator Noelle and her baby Hal, our older Sim Man model, and our pediatrics room. The remodel includes the installation of a sink/water heater and a functioning power column complete with electricity, air, and suction. The new room has fixed audio/visual equipment, allowing for live and recorded observation. Observation areas were also created for observing Sim Man 3G as well as the neighboring pediatric room. These observation areas add to the realism of our simulations and currently exist between our older Sim Man’s room and the OB area. So for the first time, our Sim Lab is now able to accommodate three individual, high-fidelity simulations at the same time, without interference! A busy area now even busier!
