UW senior nursing students Jenna Woodard and Lauren Armstrong, members of the academic honor society, Mortar Board, selected nursing faculty for the 2011 "Top Prof" honors. All members of the honor society select professors who have made a positive impact on their lives at UW. These professors go beyond normal classroom expectations to help their students succeed.
Jenna Woodard explained her nomination of nursing faculty member Holly Miller: "When choosing my Top Prof for Mortar Board, Holly Miller was first and foremost in my mind. Having met her at the beginning of my freshman year, Holly has helped to guide and mold my aspirations in and out of nursing. I have been blessed to know her as an advisor, a professor, and a friend."
About nursing faculty Debora Retz, Lauren Armstrong said, "Her attitude, work ethic, and willingness to guide nursing students to success are unparalleled, and her dedication to the future of the nursing profession is extraordinary. As my Student Nurses Association faculty advisor, she inspired me through her ever-positive outlook, unwavering leadership, and her desire to tackle projects head on. As my mentor, she has given me a shining example of the dedication, passion, strength, and intelligence required to be an excellent nurse and teacher. I know I will be continuously striving to achieve her gold standard of excellence in my own nursing career."
Congratulations to these exemplary faculty members!
