About Kali Howe:

Kali Howe has shown tremendous leadership in her actions as president of SNA , expanding the range of activities in which SNA participates; helping restructure how the group operates; and being inclusive in outreach to pre-nursing students. She was integral to helping UW SNA become part of the newly-formed state-wide Wyoming SNA organization. She also spearheaded SNA officers’ involvement in brainstorming sessions to assist the new UW Alumni Association Nursing Chapter in planning mentoring events for students. Through her SNA position she participated in the National SNA Convention in Phoenix, Arizona and attended the Student Policy Summit in Washington, D.C., advocating for health policy on Capitol Hill.

Howe's Convocation Speech:

Howe says her Convocation address will be relevant to graduates of all the school's programs. "The University of Wyoming's nursing programs are all so unique," says Howe. "I am trying to make my address speak to each program, to each specific degree. I will be talking about what it means to be a nurse and what that entails. I will also include a modern twist on Florence Nightingale's 13 canons."

Biography:

Kali Howe grew up in Rock Springs, Wyoming. She attended Central Wyoming College, where she played volleyball for the Rustler's and was one of CWC's 2013 valedictorians. She then transferred to UW where she finished her prerequisites and began the nursing program. "My grandma inspired me to become a nurse. She was a nurse 'back in the day' and hearing her stories really intrigued me. I love giving back to others, and felt the profession of nursing would be a great way to fulfill such a desire."

Howe will be working at Wyoming Medical Center in Casper upon graduation. She accepted a job on the Progressive Care Unit in their Graduate Nurse Residency Program.
