Once again, the University of Wyoming Fay W. Whitney is looking forward to a noteworthy speaker taking the post of the “Whitney Distinguished Lecturer” as part of the annual School of Nursing Research & Scholarship Day. Nursing Dean Mary Burman relays her excitement over the 2019 speaker: “Rear Admiral Susan Orsega is the highest ranking nurse in the United States Public Health Service Corps. We are thrilled to have her come and speak in Laramie.” The school will be posting more information about the speaker, time and location nearer the date.

Also an important and interesting part of the day is the opportunity to hear the Doctor of Nursing Practice graduates-elect share their research regarding quality improvement [QI] projects completed with nearby clinical agencies. All participants benefit from hearing the results of the QI projects, so nurses, clinicians are encouraged to attend. UW Nursing will be sharing students' topics on the school’s Facebook ( in the month prior to the event, along with individual student comments about what made the biggest impression on them during their particular research focus.
