Notable Nursing Alumni Spotlight

Leslie (Hagenstein) Rozier, DNP, APRN, FNP-BC (Dougan, BSN '90)

Leslie Rozier was honored by the faculty of the College of Nursing at the University of Utah for her excellence in clinical practice by awarding her the Outstanding Post-Masters to Doctor of Nursing Practice Award during convocation ceremonies in May 2013. Leslie’s dissertation entitled "The Acclimatization Practices of High Altitude Recreationalists" has clinical implications for high mountain travelers world-wide. She recently presented her research findings to the International Congress of Mountain and Emergency Medicine in Varese, Italy and at the Honor Society of Nursing International World Research Congress in Prague, Czech Republic. Leslie has been a family nurse practitioner since 1979 and provides primary and emergency locum tenens services to rural clinics world-wide, most recently at the Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station and in the Aleutian Islands.  Leslie retains a clinical faculty appointment at Yale University mentoring rural nurse practitioner students. She continues to call Wyoming her home as her taproot remains deep and well-nourished on her family’s ranch near Pinedale (
