I was drawn to nursing because initially I was looking for a science-heavy major. I knew the medical field was something I was fairly interested in, and when I was deciding a major, nursing really stuck out. Not only will I get the science fix I wanted, but I also have the opportunity to educate myself for the benefits of others. That’s truly what has inspired me to dedicate myself to my academics, and hopefully I can make a difference in this career path. By choosing my major in nursing, I have promised to be the best I can be, and I’m incredibly excited to see where this field will take me!
I always knew in the back of my head that I would be coming to the University of Wyoming. I grew up fairly close and had a few visits throughout my childhood for sporting events or volleyball camps. I absolutely loved the environment and the dedication this University has to the student’s success. Now that I am here, I know for a fact that my decision to attend and pursue nursing in a phenomenal program was the best I have ever made. Being here will continue to grant me amazing opportunities as I work towards my degree.
I believe that leadership is a very important skill to possess, not only in the professional aspect but as well as in the everyday setting. When I saw the opportunity to be a part of this program, there was no doubt that this group was something I wanted to pursue. By being in the Aspire program, I am hoping to further develop as an academic and professional. Nothing drives me more than being the voice for the people and leading a group towards the path of success. Not only will I gain an amazing skill set, but I have the opportunity to build great friendships with the nursing students and gain connections with future employers.

My first goal is to graduate from the nursing program in 2021. I am hoping in this time frame to develop amazing relationships, volunteer more, and maintain a high academic standing. After graduation, I aspire to get into graduate school to pursue a master’s or doctorate degree in order to become a nurse anesthetist. I hope that by focusing on my education I will be able to become essential in a field that requires dedication and passion.
