I started to think about what I wanted to do with the rest of my life my senior year in high school. It was a scary question that I wanted to avoid, but knew I could not. I began thinking how I wanted to make a difference, maybe not in the world but just in individuals’ lives. That drew me into the idea of the healthcare field. Nursing seemed like the perfect fit due to the diversity in the field as well as the interactions nurses get to have with their patients.
I am from Pueblo, Colorado and for the longest time never even considered leaving Colorado. It was not until March of my senior year that I stumbled across UW online. I decided to tour the campus on a whim and immediately fell in love. I loved the atmosphere of the campus and could no longer see myself going anywhere else.
I was a little shy about joining activities my first semester of college and began looking for different places where I could apply myself outside of academics. I wanted to become more involved on campus—especially in leadership—and came across the Aspire Program; I knew I had to apply. I saw this program as being somewhere I could grow and develop my leadership as well as my character.

My aspirations for college, obviously, are to graduate with my BSN, but beyond that in college I want to be able to find people and places that I connect with that give me the opportunity to grow. Beyond college, I want to work as a pediatric nurse.
