What drew you to nursing?

I have always had a love of science and have wanted to work with kids. My entire life I thought I was going to be a teacher until I took an anatomy and physiology class my senior year of high school. I fell in love with the human body and how it works. My parents and other family members always told me I was going to end up being a nurse. I shadowed a few people and turns out, family knows best. I am hoping to go into pediatric oncology.

What drew you to UW?

One of my friends told me to look into the university, and I thought it was a crazy idea. I was nearly a week away from committing to an in-state college instead of one that is twelve hours away from my hometown. The next day, on a whim, I looked up University of Wyoming and scrolled through nursing school’s page. I knew immediately I needed to go on a visit and postponed acceptance to the other college. My parents went along with my crazy gut feeling, drove all twelve hours, and we took the tour. Instantly I was hooked. Something about the campus atmosphere and being in Wyoming for the first time was all it took. After completing my first year, I am so happy I made this decision.

What drew you to Aspire?

When looking into the nursing program at UW, one major component that stood out was the Aspire program. Having leadership within each class shows the level of trust and commitment the professors have with their students. It also shows that the program is looking ahead; it has plans and a future they are striving toward. Within their plans they are including the students they will be teaching. I really wanted to be part of that, and am so blessed to have this opportunity.
