What drew you to nursing?

For as long as I can remember I have always wanted to be a nurse. I come from a great line of nurses--my great grandma, my grandma and my aunt have all been nurses. I am drawn to the helping aspect of nursing and the way they can make a difference in people lives. I look up to nurses and being a part of that has always been a dream of mine.

What drew you to UW?

I chose the University of Wyoming not only because of the proximity to my hometown of Fort Collins, Colorado, and that it happens to have a small student-to-faculty ratio, but primarily because of the Fay W. Whitney School of Nursing. The school’s great reputation and the respect from the nursing community made it an easy decision to attend the University of Wyoming for nursing education.

What drew you to Aspire?

Applying for the Aspire program was also an easy decision. I knew from the beginning I didn’t just want to be a nurse, I wanted to be a nurse who made an impact and could make a difference in the nursing profession. I wanted to be a leader. Being a part of the Aspire program would give me the head start I needed to make this happen.

Through Aspire I have been given many opportunities to become a better leader, meeting many current nursing leaders, and gaining the knowledge that will help me achieve my goal

Aspirations for College and Beyond

After I graduate with my BSN, I plan to stay in Wyoming and find a job in a hospital. My options are open at this point as to the type of nursing I will pursue. After a couple years of experience I would like to become a nurse practitioner.
