Switching Major to Nursing
...current UW students who are considering switching their major to nursing will need to schedule an appointment to discuss the program and have their academic records reviewed, taking in consideration School of Nursing Policies (Declaring Pre-Nursing and BSN Program Scholastic Requirements: see #'s 2 and 3 below) in order to determine eligibility for potentially declaring nursing.
...to schedule an appointment, students should email the Basic BSN Credentials Analyst/Academic Advisor (basicbsn@uwyo.edu) identifying their interest in meeting to discuss the program and potential of declaring. In addition, they are asked to identify some potential day/time choices that work for them to assist with scheduling the appointment; the advisor will then set up an appointment time that fits best with both schedules.

Declaring Pre-Nursing
Students need to meet certain criteria to declare a pre-nursing major at the UW School of Nursing. Click for that information: Admission Criteria/Declaring Pre-Nursing.

BSN Program Scholastic Requirements
Students need to meet the BSN Program Scholastic Requirements as part of the expectations for potentially declaring Nursing as their major as well as staying within those requirements throughout completion of the program. Click for that information: BSN Program Scholastic Requirements.

Prerequisites (Courses needed prior to acceptance into the Basic BSN Program)

That page will list the prerequisite courses students need to take the first two-three years, and then shows the remaining courses that students take if accepted into the program.

Admission Criteria
...for admission to the nursing major component (last two years) of the Basic BSN option (click the link to go to the Admission Criteria & Application to the Major). This page gives students an idea as to what the school looks at in the nursing application process for students ready to seek admission potential into the nursing major component of the Basic BSN option. Information is updated yearly, so students should check it periodically to see what may have changed in regards to any expectations for that process for the year in which they are seeking to apply.
