Registration: Non-Degree Seeking Students

Students need to follow the specific instructions noted below should they find themselves in one of the following situations:

  • If students have applied to the School of Nursing for admittance to the MS Program and need the FWWSON bridge courses...

(N3015, N3020) to complete their application packet, they should follow directions within steps 1 through 4 below. [Note: N3015 and N3020 must be completed prior to starting the program. These courses are only needed by registered nurses whose baccalaureate degree was not in nursing.]

  • The school is no longer able to admit non-degree seeking students into the graduate nursing courses with the exception of NURS 5140, Pharmacotherapy for Primary Care Practitioners. See below.

If students desire to take NURS 5140, Pharmacotherapy for Primary Care Practitioners, they should follow step 1 and step 4 in the directions below. NOTE: Potential UW Nurse Practitioner students are not to take this class until admitted into the program and then must take it in sequence with their approved plan of study.

  1. Apply through Admissions with the Non-Degree-Seeking Application

Students need to submit the Non-Degree Seeking Application for the semester in which they wish to take a class.

    • Go to UW Admissions page by clicking on this link.

    • Scroll down the page and click Non-Degree UNDERGRADUATE Students. Follow the steps noted on that page.

  2. Complete a Petition

The undergraduate nursing bridge courses have controlled enrollment. Therefore, non-degree-seeking students are required to submit a petition seeking consent for online enrollment in these courses.

    • Go to the Student Forms page of our site by clicking on that link. Scroll down to the link, "Consent for Online Enrollment Petition".

    • For Undergraduate Nursing Bridge Courses petitioning...
students need to be in the application process to the MS program. Application Packet Items Section #1 must be on file with the School of Nursing.

  3. Petition Notification

Undergraduate Nursing Bridge Courses & NURS 5140:

As soon as a student's petition has been received and processed, that student is notified whether or not they may register for the course(s) petitioned. Notifications are made through the email address identified on the student's petition.

  4. Register for courses

    • Directions

Students receive directions for registering on WyoWeb from the Registrar's Office once they grant admission following receipt of the non-degree-seeking graduate application.

    • Registration Period

Students need to wait to register until the official registration period opens up for whatever semester they want to apply.

    • Undergraduate Nursing Bridge Courses

When registering for these controlled enrollment courses through WyoWeb, students are required to enroll as a waitlisted student. School of Nursing staff finalize enrollment for the courses petitioned and for which students have been granted permission to take. Students should be sure to monitor their enrollment status through WyoWeb on all waitlisted courses.

    • NURS 5140

This course is under controlled enrollment. Non-degree-seeking students who have been granted permission to register have an override placed on their account which allows them to be able to register for this course through WyoWeb.
