Transfer Evaluation

  • When transferring credits to the RN-BSN Completion option, students may find it beneficial to go to http://wyotransfer.uwyo.edu to access the UW Transfer Equivalency Self-Service site. This site can assist in discovering how courses taken at other institutions will transfer and can be used to earn a degree at UW. Transfer evaluation reports created on this site are NOT official but rather serve as a guide.

  • The following site, http://www.uwyo.edu/registrar/students/transfer_credit.html, identifies other types of acceptable credit such as credit by examination options which include Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB) and College Level Examination Program (CLEP).

  • The UW Registrar's Office completes an evaluation of students' transcripts following their admission to the university. Their office determines whether or not courses are found to have UW equivalencies and/or University Studies (USP) attributes. The Registrar is the official evaluator and the School of Nursing further determines which courses are then applicable to the nursing curriculum.

  • As part of the RN-BSN Completion application process, transfer coursework will be further evaluated by the School of Nursing to determine transfer equivalency of required courses. Pending approval/clearance on all transfer discrepancies by both the School of Nursing and the Registrar, students' transfer evaluations are considered unofficial.

About NursingCAS

  • What is NursingCAS?
NursingCAS is the nation's only online application service for individuals applying to nursing programs offered at all levels. The service helps to streamline the application process while providing guidance, updates, and support to applicants every step of the way. On NursingCAS you will be able view our program details, requirements, deadlines, programs offered and other important information.

  • What are the benefits of applying through NursingCAS?
NursingCAS allows applicants to use a single online resource to research and apply to any nursing program at participating schools nationwide. It is a convenient and cost effective option, as applicants only need to complete one online application and send one set of supporting materials, which cuts down on the repetitive nature of the process and data entry. You can sign up to receive emails from schools about new programs, upcoming deadlines, and available seats. There is also a customer service team available to help you, and you can check your status online or on your smartphone 24/7 to track your application.

  • NursingCAS Application
To access the NursingCAS 3.0 application, use the following link: http://www.nursingcas.org/

The NursingCAS application is divided into four sections. The first three sections (Personal Information, Academic History and Supporting Information) are common among participating programs. The fourth section is unique to the program to which you are applying.

  • Who should I contact with questions about NursingCAS once I start my application?
NursingCAS has a dedicated customer service team available to applicants. Contact customer service for any questions or concerns including inquiries about application status, verification, receipt of supporting materials, how to complete the application, uploading documents, or submitting reference requests.

Notification Process

Admission notifications occur on a rolling basis so there are no application deadlines. As nursing courses begin each semester including mid-semester for fall/spring semesters, applicants may apply for any given fall/spring semester after the semester is already underway. Applicants should monitor their email and note that some contacts have response deadlines.

Final Admission

The following items will be noted within the admission offer and are required in order to finalize formal School of Nursing admission:

  • Meet with an advisor and review the Degree Evaluation noted in WyoWeb.

  • Verification by the BSN Completion Program office of the Criminal background check.

All students accepted by the School of Nursing are offered admission contingent upon successful completion of criminal background check. (The UW College of Health Sciences requires a background check through a specific company. That information is given to the student in their admission letter.) Students are alerted through admission letters regarding when and where to obtain the criminal background check; students should not begin process until asked to do so by the School of Nursing. If students complete the criminal background check prior to receiving a School of Nursing admission letter instructing them to do so, the students must repeat the process.

  • Receipt by the BSN Completion Program office of your Acceptance and Technical Standards forms.

  • Verification by the BSN Completion Program office of UW enrollment for the semester admission is offered.
