A Message from President Allison Brown

"The Student Nurse’s Association is a student led organization that is focused on community volunteering and involvement. I, along with the other board members, have a variety of ideas for the group this year, but the biggest goal we have is to become more established as an organization on campus. It is a fairly small group now, however the more people who get involved, the more volunteer opportunities we will have and be able to participate in. Considering we are all student nurses, helping and caring is in our blood, therefore we all share the same passion.

This semester we have donated a variety of school supplies to the children of Honduras to further their education; we have hosted a DKMS bone marrow donor registration; and we have played bingo at Spring Winds Assisted Living. We have also held a few social events to really get to know one another and give the lower and upper classmen a chance to mingle. We will also be doing window painting downtown for the holidays and making holiday cards to pass out at various nursing and assisted living homes.

I am very excited for the year because the SNA members never fail to go above and beyond, and our help and support in the community does not go unnoticed!"

What is SNA?

What is SNA?

SNA is a recognized student organization on campus. Any student at UWYO who has declared nursing as a major can become a member--Freshman through Senior. We strongly encourage those of you who haven't joined to do so. SNA is an excellent way to become actively involved in your education. You also have the opportunity to become a member of the National SNA, through which are many benefits and opportunities available to you. We encourage you to fill out an application. (Contact SNA at the email contact noted above for an application.)

UWSNA participates in many on-campus activities to raise awareness and funds for specific diseases/causes, including Walk MS; Susan G. Komen Foundation for the Cure; Face AIDS; Body Image Awareness Week; Adopt a Family Holiday Tree; and food drives. We also do some off-campus volunteering at Spring Wind Assisted Living and the Downtown Clinic in Laramie and Ronald McDonald house in Colorado. SNA has regular social activities outside of meetings to get to know one another better.

Pizza lunches are usually the fare for SNA meetings!

Meetings are held once a month, on days and times which are most convenient for the majority. A free lunch is served at every meeting.
