Help Yourself Academy

Be a Mentor...

The Help Yourself Academy (HYA) is an after-school program designed to inspire confidence in third- and fourth-grade students. Participants experiment with hands-on activities in a college environment, where they explore biology, chemistry, physics, and geology. Mentors inspire participants by assisting them with projects, being attentive to their needs and interests, and modeling collegiate behavior.

HYA is an amazing opportunity to work with children in a relaxed, fun, and educational atmosphere. Mentors build relationships with the students, and help them to realize their potential. The experience offered through this program is a strong addition to any portfolio.

Because of a generous donation by John Wold, UW/CC Center education students can take this two credit-hour course tuition-free.
