School of Pharmacy Launches Aspire Program
Developing Excellence in Pharmacy Education from the Beginning
The UW School of Pharmacy is pleased to announce the launch of the Aspire Program. The goal of the new program is to recruit and retain high-achieving freshman students for the Doctor of Pharmacy program, and to maximize their academic success and leadership as future professionals.
In collaboration with the College of Health Sciences (CHS), the school developed the Aspire Program to provide students with opportunities for personal and professional growth in the areas of scholarship, service, leadership, and professionalism.
Two pre-pharmacy students will be chosen each year from a list of applicants. The students will receive one-on-one mentoring and will work with a faculty mentor and professional student mentor. They will also receive a scholarship to cover application cost, be guaranteed a pharmacy school interview, have their seat fee waived, and, if admitted, have priority registration for courses each semester.
Selected applicants must meet the following requirements: participate in community service, maintain a 3.5 GPA, develop a project and present at the CHS Grand Rounds/Research Day, join a pharmacy student organization, and attend at least two seminars per semester.
