ASHP Clinical Skills Competition
P4 students Jenna Allais and Kendra Whalen won the UW School of Pharmacy ASHP Clinical Skills Competition September 26 and will represent the school at the ASHP Midyear Clinical Meeting in Orlando, Florida, in December. Alternates are P4s Ally Dolence and Kole Thornton. The competition involved a two-hour evaluation of a patient case and the development of a written care plan, as well as a two-minute oral presentation followed by a question and answer period. Five very competitive teams participated in the competition which was open to P3 and P4 students.
Judges for the competition were clinical faculty Michelle Hilaire, Pharm.D., CDE, BCPS, Jennifer Petrie, Pharm.D., BCPS, and Lanae Fox, Pharm.D., BCPS. Refreshments were provided by the ASHP student organization. Competition organizer, Jaime Hornecker, Pharm.D., BCPS, says, "I am very appreciative of the involvement of our faculty and the students who competed and helped organize the competition this year. Congratulations to everyone who participated. Please wish Jenna and Kendra good luck as they go on to represent UW at Midyear!"
