Education History:
Campbell County High School 1999
BS Communications 2003, University of Wyoming
What inspired you to become a pharmacist?
I wanted to find a career where I could give back to the community, be a trusted health care professional and build relationships with the patients I care for. Pharmacy has allowed me to do all of these things.
Why did you want to attend the UW School of Pharmacy?
The small class size and many opportunities to explore the many types of pharmacy practice. The school’s history of producing students with a high pass rate of the NAPLEX exam was encouraging; students must be getting a great education to have such a great pass rate.
Student Activities:
Through student organizations I developed leadership skills and made life-long friends. I had opportunities to practice my pharmacy skills through these organizations. It’s a great way to meet pharmacists from all over the state and country and build connections with your future colleagues.
Experiences while at UW and the School of Pharmacy:
It was great to be in an environment where everyone wants you to succeed. Professors, administrators and even your classmates wish you success and are willing to go out of their way to help you accomplish your goals.
Advice for prospective students considering the UW School of Pharmacy:
My advice for prospective students considering the UW School of Pharmacy would be to study hard but remember to take a break; pharmacy school is a marathon, not a sprint!
Comments about life in Laramie and the Rocky Mountain area:
I love Laramie; I have made it my home for the last 10 years. I appreciate the small town atmosphere with the big city opportunities the university provides: fine arts performances, sporting events and big name concerts.
Future Goals:
I hope to stay in Wyoming and practice community pharmacy. I grew up here and I would like to give back to this rural community. In a state that has some health care access issues I would like to be part of the solution by offering services to patients in order to help them have positive health care outcomes.
