Philosophy 3220

Existentialism and Phenomenology: Nietzsche

Instructor: Harvey Hix
Delivery Method: Traditional In-Person
Times: MWF 11:00a - 11:50a

“A nihilist is one who judges of the world as it is that it ought not to be, and of the world as it ought to be that it does not exist.”  Friedrich Nietzsche’s writing is full of such oracular pronouncements as that.  In this course, we will read several of Nietzsche’s major works, reflecting on what such declarations might mean, what they might imply, and why they might matter to us.
