Paul Johnson

Professor Paul Johnson received an astronomy Ph.D. degree from the University of Washington  in 1979, and worked as a post-doctoral research associate at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory and the Royal Observatory, Edinburgh. He joined UW in 1981 and served as Dept. Chair from 1997 to 2008.   His research interests are in the rapid detection of pathogenic microorganisms in water, blood, and blood products and the detection of environmental pollution using genetically altered tadpoles.
