Alsike Clover, Trifolium hybridium

Perrenial plant native to Europe which lives two to six years under favorable conditions. Grows well in the intermountain states, especially under irrigation. Requires a cool climate with abundant moisture. Grows in heavy clay and silt soils and has less sensitivity to soil pH than other clovers. Flowers are pink to white. Produces less hay than Red Clover and does best in mixed pasture situations, especially on poorer fields with wet, flooded or sour conditions.

Trifoliate (palmate compound) true clover leaves.
Note light colored "V" blotch on Red and White clover leaflets (absent on Alsike clover).
