How to apply for Recertification Credit

The University of Wyoming Cooperative Extension Service will conduct a pesticide short course for initial certification of commercial pesticide applicators in December 2009.

Initial Certification - Laramie - December 15 - 18, 2009

Training for initial commercial pesticide applicator certification will be offered December 15 - 18, 2009 at the University of Wyoming, College of Agriculture, Room 1030, in Laramie. Information dealing with commercial applicator certifications will be presented. The Wyoming Department of Agriculture will offer certification examinations for specific application categories following the short course on Friday December 18th (7 am to noon). There is a license fee of $25.00 based on pass/fail of the exams. The fee is handled through the Wyoming Department of Agriculture. There is no license fee for city, county, state, or federal employees.

There is a $110 registration fee for the initial certification in Laramie. The registration fee includes University of Wyoming college credit for 1 hour of PLNT 1150. Grading will be satisfactory or unsatisfactory and will be based on attendance and a score of 70% or better on the general exam. A pesticide manual is available for $30.00, which contains materials pertaining to the commercial pesticide applicator training short course (this manual is available for download online at: http://www.uwyo.edu/plants/wyopest/TrainingManuals/Commercial Pesticide Training Manual.pdf ) caution it is a very large file ~26 mb, ~600 pages. The manual may be purchased prior to the short course or at the initial certification short course in Laramie. Bring a note pad and a calculator.

!!!You may also want to bring a seat cushion or pillow to sit on as the seats are not cushioned!!!

Registration is by pre-registration only and is limited to 70 participants. County Extension Offices and Weed & Pest Offices will also have registration forms available for mail in registration.

If your Wyoming Commercial Pesticide Applicator License Expires January 31, 2010, and you wish to renew your license by attending the commercial applicator re-certification short course, or wish to obtain additional credit hours towards re-certification, please be advised of the following:

If you need to renew your commercial applicators license prior to January 31, 2010, the re-certification short course will be held on January 19 - 21, 2010 in Casper at the Ramkota Hotel in Casper, WY.

The registration fee is $??. An additional $25 is required to continue your certification for a total of $???.

We invite you to participate in this program which is sponsored by the University of Wyoming Cooperative Extension Service, UW Department of Plant Sciences, Wyoming Dept. of Ag., U.S. EPA, and the Wyoming Weed Management Association (WWMA). It is available for those commercial applicators needing recertification and the general public to increase their knowledge on pesticide issues, pesticide safety, and pest control.
