A Time to Celebrate Success of Our Graduates

December 14, 2018

To the UW community:

This is an exciting time in the life of our university. As the fall semester comes to a close, the University of Wyoming launches 768 new graduates into the world -- 55 with doctoral degrees, 116 with master’s degrees, 586 with bachelor’s degrees and 11 with certificates. Their hard work and dedication to their studies over the last few years has brought them to this point. In this time, we have watched each of them grow, not just academically, but personally, as they have gained new knowledge and developed skills that prepare them for the road ahead. I want to personally congratulate each of our graduates for their academic achievements. We are all so very proud of you.

I also want to thank our faculty and staff for the many contributions that you have made -- each in your own way -- to our graduates’ success over the years. No one finishes a college degree on their own. Family members, friends and each of you share a piece of our graduates’ achievements -- and I know that they are grateful for your contributions, as am I. I hope that each member of our university community will join me in sharing your best wishes with our graduates and their families as you encounter them on campus or around town over the next couple of days. Your kind words help to reinforce the lifelong relationship that these graduates will have with the University of Wyoming -- and remind them that they are always welcome back to campus!

Winter Commencement ceremonies will be held tomorrow, Saturday, Dec. 15, at 10 a.m. in the Arena-Auditorium. I encourage members of our university community to attend this celebration of our graduates. Information about parking and shuttle service is available here. If you are unable to attend, you may watch the ceremonies on WyoCast.

Congratulations, graduates! Make us proud…
