A five member committee of the University of Wyoming Board of Trustees is seeking public advice regarding the University's presidential search process. The committee is charged with gathering advice concerning the process to be used to find a successor to UW President Dick McGinity, who has indicated he will not continue as president at the conclusion of his contract on June 30, 2016.
Committee members selected by Board of Trustees President Dave Palmerlee include:
John MacPherson, Saratoga (Chair)
Mel Baldwin, Afton
Mike Massie, Laramie
Jeff Marsh, Torrington
Michelle Sullivan, Sheridan
Issues to be considered include how to develop a statement of qualifications for the position; whether to engage a search consultant; what types of committees might be involved in reviewing applications and screening candidates; and, the timetable for conducting the search. The committee believes that the inclination of the Trustees appears to favor a public process, although no formal vote has been taken to date. Thoughts regarding this question are welcomed.
In order for comments to receive full consideration by the committee, it is recommended that they be submitted no later than Monday, May 11. After considering all input, the committee intends to report to the full Board of Trustees at the May 13-15, 2015, Board of Trustees meeting.
