UW Profiles

Dr. Asli Fahriye Ceylan Isik

My name is Asli Ceylan Isik and I have been working at the School of Pharmacy as an Assistant Lecturer. I am originally from Turkey. I came here the first time in 2004 as an exchange scholar at Dr. Jun Ren's Lab when I was a Ph.D. student. After I graduated, I returned in 2008 as a post-doctoral researcher at Dr. Sreejayan Nair's Lab.

I came back to UW because being a member of the Center for Cardiovascular Research and Alternative Medicine (C-CRAM) is a great opportunity since both Dr. Ren and Dr. Nair are top researchers in their research field. I feel that I can learn and gain expertise in this research group. Furthermore, our research group, as well as the people who work in the School of Pharmacy, is always very friendly and warm. I always feel that I am at my secondary home.

My research interests are cardiovascular diseases especially in insulin resistance and diabetic conditions as well as in gender aspect. As a basic research scientist, I know that our research is really important since it may have always meaning in clinical perspective.

I enjoy working at UW since I can always talk face to face with my supervisors anytime to discuss our research and I can study on my lectures as well. I can always find time for my career and for myself.
