Wyoming legislator and rancher

A lifelong rancher, Jim Hageman was a vital member of Wyoming's agricultural community, as a life member of the Wyoming Stock Growers Association, and a member of the Farm Bureau, American Legion, Moose Lodge, Environmental Institute at the University of Wyoming, and Wyoming Woolgrowers Association.

Hageman served Wyoming for 24 years in the House of Representatives for Goshen, Platte, and Converse counties.

In 2006, UW named its newest agricultural research center, the Sustainable Agriculture Research and Extension Center (SAREC) near Lingle, for him.

Hageman and his wife, Marion, served as foster parents to many children. Hageman was named National Parent of the Year in 1996, and he and  Marion were named University of Wyoming Family of the Year and Wyoming Livestock Roundup Ag Family of the Year in 2002.

Hageman passed away in August 2006. He and Marion had three daughters and four sons.
