What made you decide to come to the University of Wyoming?

To be honest, I did not know about UW until I got admitted for its undergraduate chemistry program. It is not until I discussed with local students that I realized how affordable the university was compared to others in the area. Beyond this, Wyoming or at least Laramie is very welcoming. The school offers an outstanding-quality education and is so full of opportunities that I am not regretting a single minute spent here.

Where do you come from originally?

I am from the Democratic Republic of the Congo in Central Africa.

How has your experience been at UW?

I have had a wonderful experience at UW. I am graduating at the end of this summer and am already regretting to leave Laramie soon. One thing that has always amazed me at UW is the way instructors treat students. Sometimes the class looks too large for a professor to even care about a single student, yet most of them show that they do and sometimes know a good portion by name. Another thing is the instructor’s consideration and willingness to explain the course materials no matter how you are doing in the class. Throughout my years at the university, I have been constantly impressed by how nice and approachable instructors were, to the point of still keeping a good memory of them, even when I sometimes ended up not doing as well as I wished. To finish, I LOVE the fact that the university promotes a large variety of student clubs to allow student voices to be heard through multiple events hosted throughout the academic year.

What is your major?

My major is chemistry.

What do you think of the multicultural aspects of the University?

I am appreciative to the multicultural aspect promoted by the university. I believe it makes every student, staff, and faculty member feel home. Go pokes!

What can you tell us about yourself?

After four full years at UW, I have been able to turn into a real cowboy, unlike my original wish [smile]. I always feel ready to cowboy-up and stay “jazzed” to enjoy my classes and other tasks. I consider my experience at the University of Wyoming as exceptional because I managed to take the most out of what the institution offers. Getting involved with student clubs related to my major and my cultural background has opened my mind and has helped me avoid a stressful college life.

I am very shy, I love to dance, work out and play volleyball. I have been living in Wyoming for 6 years and my whole family lives in Jackson Wyoming. I have a brother and sister and I'm very close to my family. My favorite food is Chinese and I could never be a vegetarian.
