Glaciers, Ice sheets, and Cold Regions

Glaciers Pic

Snow and ice influence many other aspects of the Earth system from the climate and oceans to the shape of our landscapes and the resources available to people. Cold regions exist on every continent from polar plains to tropical mountain tops, and these areas have a rich record of environmental change during the Quaternary Period. A core strength of the Shelmon Center is our expertise in glacier processes, and we have related projects ranging from ice sheets in Greenland to mountain glaciers in Alaska and Wyoming.
