2009 Range Beef Cow Symposium December 1st , 2nd and 3rd.

Dr. Steve Paisley, Extension Beef Cattle Specialist, and the University of Wyoming Department of Animal Science are this year's hosts for the XXI Range Beef Cow Symposium, scheduled for December 1st, 2nd and 3rd at the Casper Events Center in Casper, WY.

Started in 1969 at Chadron, NE and held every other year, the Range Beef Cow Symposium is organized by the Animal Science departments of Colorado State University, the University of Nebraska, South Dakota State University and the University of Wyoming. The RBCS rotates locations between Colorado, western Nebraska, western South Dakota and Wyoming. The symposium has continued to grow in popularity, and is now recognized as one of the premiere production beef cattle symposiums in the country. Focusing on beef production issues in the Western states, the Range Beef Cow Symposium regularly attracts an audience of 800 to 1200 attendees and over 80 agribusiness booth vendors for the 3 day event.

With over 30 speakers addressing beef production topics such as nutrition, marketing, health, reproduction, consumer demand and current industry issues, the Range Beef Cow Symposium is a great opportunity to listen to nationally recognized speakers on a wide variety of topics. One of the most popular aspects of the Range Beef Cow Symposium are the nightly "Bull Pen Sessions", where the invited speakers are brought back as panelists, and are available for informal question and answer sessions. The symposium is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, December 1st at 9:00 AM, and conclude on Thursday, December 3rd at 12:00. Additional information such as agenda, registration and lodging will be made available once final details have been set. For additional information, the 2009 RBCS contact person is Dr. Steve Paisley, Extension Beef Cattle Specialist with the University of Wyoming. Steve's office is located at the James C. Hageman SAREC facility near Lingle, WY, phone: (307) 837-2000, email: spaisley@uwyo.edu.
