Fall Outdoor Experience|Outdoor Program

What is the Fall Outdoor Experience?

The Fall Outdoor Experience (FOE) is a wilderness-type orientation program exclusively for incoming freshmen. By participating in exciting outdoor adventures with us, you will meet new friends in a healthy, fun environment. Since 2000, we have provided hundreds of students with the opportunity to settle into college life by meeting new people and having a great time while exploring the many mountains, rivers and rocks of southeast Wyoming.

How does this Work?

You don’t need prior experience to participate in any of the adventure options! Participants get to move into the residence halls on Sunday, August 18, 2013. On Sunday night, you will meet your FOE leaders and group members, ask questions, and learn more about what we will be doing. On Monday, August 19 you’ll head out and camp outside and participate in backpacking, caving, canoeing, or rock climbing during the days. Each group has a different focus, so be sure to pick one that interests you. Our knowledgeable instructors will teach you the necessary skills to perform these types of activities, and will facilitate your group’s entire experience. You will return to campus Thursday, August 22 with a new group of friends and adventures under your belt (we will return in time for you to participate in the SUMMIT program).

"Not only was the outdoor program a great way to get settled in early, it was also a wonderful way of meeting people with my common interests... It really broke the ice as an incoming freshmen." -FOE participant
