After a month-long hiking trip in Alaska, Avi was hooked on the remote locations our planet has to offer. Born in Jerusalem and raised primarily in Maine, he considers himself to be a native of planet Earth. He began his outdoor climbing career in the Shawangunk Mountains of New York, and has been honing his rock-craft in areas like Joshua Tree, Red Rocks, Rumney, Sinks Canyon, Leavenworth, and now Vedauwoo. He also enjoys splitboard mountaineering, skiing, mountain biking, trail running, hiking, and his newly developing sport- kite skating.

As a Trip Leader, Avi leads climbing trips for the Outdoor Program. He is also the Equipment Manager, and is quickly learning bike and ski maintenance. He holds an AA in Outdoor Education & Leadership from Central Wyoming College and is working towards his four year degree. He aspires to one day achieve the AMGA status of Rock Guide, and is actively pursuing that goal.
