Along Highway 230 is a special outcropping that is a great example of exposed French slate with boulders deposited from receding glaciers. There, the group measured the orientation of folds and cleavage in the French slate with a Brunton Transit Compass to measure. The students were using a Brunton Transit Compass to measure the strike, dip and cleavage of French slate that juts up from the surface. Student: McKenzee Peterson (white & gray hat, purple jacket, dark gray pants) - Wyoming Research Scholar
