Getting Involved in Your Residence Hall|Residence Life & Dining Services

RHA RecycleResidence Halls Association

RHA is the student governing body of the residences halls. RHA Executive Board members are elected and appointed students that live in each of the halls and serve as guides for the hall senates and the RHA Counsel. The RHA Executive Board and the RHA Counsel (comprised of the hall senate presidents and representatives) provide feedback to the administrative staff of Residence Life & Dining Services on policies, procedures, hall improvements, long-range plans, and even fee rates. In addition to this advisory role, RHA sponsors programs and educational opportunities for residents in all of the halls.

If you are interested in participating in hall senate contact your Resident Assistant or Assistant Hall Director for more information.

Hall Senates

Each hall has a senate that provides various programs and leadership opportunities in your hall. At the beginning of the year an election is held for the positions of president, vice president, secretary, and treasurer.

Hall senates are expected to represent the opinions of the residents they serve to the RHA Counsel on important policy and programmatic topics. Hall senates will also work collaboratively with other hall senates and hall staff to provide fun and educational programming events for their hall.

If you are interested in participating in hall senate contact your Resident Assistant or Assistant Hall Director for more information.

Earn While You Learn

Residence Life & Dining Services employs many part-time students throughout the year in a variety of positions. Because we understand the importance of your education, we consider your class schedule and offer flexible work hours. Additional opportunities to advance to student supervisory positions are available. Be sure to inquire about the types of positions available when you visit campus during the summer. You can explore available positions by searching the UW Student Employment website at or by visiting the Residence Life & Dining Services offices.

Academically Focused Events

Each year, students who live in the residence hall are invited to participate in a variety of events like guest speakers teaching about test-taking or study skills, workshops on relaxation or stressmanagement and other events. At the end of each semester, Residence Life & Dining Services provides extended quiet hours in the residence halls, extended hours of operation in the Washakie Center, and a late-night breakfast called the “Eggzamination Preparation Breakfast.”
