Spring Closing Information

General Closing Information:

  • The residence halls close at Noon on Saturday, May 12th. All residents must be officially checked out by that time. Exception:  Residents assigned to Summer School Housing will move their summer assignment between 6-8 p.m. on Sunday, May 13th. Check in with the White Hall front desk during that time.
  • You must check out from your room within 24 hours after your last exam.  Exception: Graduating seniors and residents with extraordinary circumstances that require an extension beyond the 24-hour requirement. Please see RC for approval.
  • 24-hour Silent Hours begin Friday, May 4th, at 10 p.m. and continue throughout Finals Week.
  • After-Hours Check-Out is designed to assist those residents who cannot check-out of the hall during the normal check-out times of 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. If this applies to you, talk with your RA or Residence Coordinator about the after-hours check-out option.
  • Summer School Housing: Sign up for a room for Summer School housing here by Friday, May 4th, at 5pm.
  • Parking spaces will be designated as 30-minute loading/unloading areas from Monday, April 30th through Saturday, May 14th. These spots will be located in designated areas near the halls.

Cleaning, Carts and Reminders:

  • Bicycles: Do not leave your bikes on the racks for the summer. If you are staying for Summer School and will be living in White Hall, you should move your bike to White Hall. Any bikes left on the other bike racks after Sunday, May 13th, may be impounded by UWPD.
  • Trash: Garbage will not be collected on the floor during finals week. Dumpsters will be located on the west sides of Downey and Orr Halls. Please take all trash (personal furniture, shelving, etc.) down to these large dumpsters. Please dump all liquids from containers before disposing in the dumpsters.
  • Carts: A limited number of carts are available to be checked out from the front desks of each residence hall starting Friday, April 27th.
  • Cleaning Supplies: Mops, buckets, ringers, all-purpose cleaner, and glass cleaner will be available at the front desks Friday, April 27th. Brooms, dust pans and vacuums are always available for check-out.
  • Don’t Dump, Donate!: Place any unopened, non-perishable food; clean clothing in good condition; or any small, working household appliances in the designated bins and boxes in each hall lobby.
  • Dining Room Dishes: Please place utensils, plates, and any other Food Service items that belong to the Washakie Dining Hall in the Amnesty Boxes at the front desk.
  • Bicycle Lockers: Be sure to get your deposits back from Vending Services, 7:30a.m.-5p.m. M-F. Any items found in lockers will be impounded.  If no one is in the office or it’s after business hours, there will be a small box setting by the door with a pen and some small envelopes in it. Students can put a locker key inside the envelope with their name and the address on envelop and slide it under the door. Vending service will send your refund to a given address on the envelope.
  • Storage Facilities: Residence Life & Dining Services is unable to offer storage over the summer months.
  • Mail: Students should update their mailing address in WyoWeb to ensure that their mail continues to be delivered to the appropriate location. Residence Life & Dining staff will forward mail for one month following move-out.
