Lakken Bice

Parents:  Wylie and Vickie Bice
Home Town: Killdeer, ND
High School: Killdeer High School

Degree Program: Business Marketing

Events: Barrel Racing and Breakaway Roping

I was a very busy girl in high school! I had competed in all 6 events offered for girls in HS rodeo (barrels, poles, goats, breakaway, team roping, cutting) up until my senior year when I wanted to bring my focus down to 3 instead (barrels, breakaway, poles.) I qualified for HS nationals all 4 years and was fortunate enough to place 4th in the barrels at the finals my sophomore year. On top of rodeo, I participated in volleyball, FBLA, FFA, Robotics, Luther League, Lutheran Youth Org., volunteered four our church, and also took up wrestling stats in the winter. I also took school very seriously and was able to graduate near the top of my class with a 3.8 GPA. My best year so far in college had to be this past year as a sophomore both academically and in rodeo. I was able to end this past term with a 4.0 GPA. As for rodeo, the spring season was incredibly generous to me! I had more luck with breakaway in the fall, but my barrel racing fell into place towards the end of the season. I was able to win both Torrington and Laramie and place high in Casper and Fort Collins. I was just short of making the college finals, even with a rough start to the season. I’ve only got a taste of the PRCA life due to seasoning a young horse horse but I was able to take home some money a couple years back at some rodeos! We have been focusing on the WPRA jackpots this year and have had a ton of success winning and placing nearly everywhere we've went this past season. I also had success in the amateur rodeos and was rookie of the year, reserve all around, and reserve champion barrel racer somewhere in the past few years. One of my biggest jackpot accomplishments had to be this past spring when I won the Twist N Turn Average in Silesia, MT. I chose UW for many reasons! I love the pride and energy of the college itself as well as all the support that stands behind every sport and group in the community. Besides that, I love the location and all the opportunities that comes with it. I also knew I love and wanted to stay in the Central Rocky Mountain Region. Both my parents rodeoed when they were younger, and my dad still ropes to this day! My little brother Mason, has had success in the team roping at an amateur, junior high, high school, jackpot and national level! My older brother has also been successful in the team roping at a junior high, high school, amateur, and pro/circuit level as well.
