The Precision Positioning Device comprises a precision measuring/vibration isolation mechanism. This device utilizes four plates, with the precision measuring mechanism or the item to be isolated attached to the first plate. There is an adjusting mechanism for adjusting the four plates relative to each other. This technology also includes both an apparatus and method for precision measuring for extra fine positioning.
Applications for this device are numerous. Precision positioning and vibration isolation are important in a number of aerospace, military and manufacturing applications. This device can also be used on a variety of scientific instruments including electron microscopes, scanning tunneling microscopes, atomic force microscopes and gravity wave detectors.
