Degradable Nanogel for Drug Delivery
Description of Technology:
This technology relates to degradable nano-sized gels (nano-gels) for the delivery of drugs. The nanogels are made of a polymer that has a water-soluble polymer chain containing carboxylic acid moieties and poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) or other water-soluble polymer chains attached to the polymer chain.
Applications:
The polymers are useful as drug carriers and as imaging agents, and can overcome cancer drug resistance leading to enhanced therapeutic efficacy and reduced toxicity of the cancer drug to healthy tissue.
Features and Benefits:
Degradable Nanogels provide for faster delivery of cancer-fighting drugs. In addition to providing greatly enhanced chemotherapy results, the nanogels can be altered to inhibit premature drug release, enhance circulation time, and increase uptake of the drug by cancer cells.
