The Safe Zone Symbol

The Safe Zone Symbol bears a pink triangle, a symbol of positive gay identity, surrounded by a green circle, an international symbol of peace or acceptance. It designates "safe zones" for gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgendered, and questioning students and employees on campus. Displaying this logo indicates that you are a person who is supportive of all students, regardless of sexual orientation.

The Safe Zone symbol sends a message to gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgendered, and questioning students and colleagues that a person displaying the symbol is one who will be understanding, supportive, and trustworthy if an individual needs help, advice, or someone with whom to talk about issues related to sexual orientation. Moreover, the logo symbolizes that homophobic and heterosexist comments and actions will not be tolerated, but will be addressed in an educational and informative manner.

For more information or to sign up to attend Safe Zone training, please contact the Campus Activities Center, Room 012, in the lower level of the Wyoming Union, (307)766-6340, e-mail cac@uwyo.edu
