Saturday June 28, 2014
The UCROSS Foundation, Sheridan, WY

Videos of the days event are accessible via the links below!

Imagine… a cadre of nationally prominent artists and a bevy of highly acclaimed scientists are brought together for two weeks in a beautiful, isolated setting to undertake a radical task. They are told to use their prodigious talents and honed skills to engage and interpret a provocative place, the Ucross Ranch, from their own perspectives. And then the scientists and artists are paired and challenged to co-produce an original expression of their shared understanding of the land. What will emerge if a plant ecologist works with dancer/choreographer, a sculptor with a microbial ecologist, geologist with a musician/composer, or a poet with an animal ecologist?

In what is sure to be one of the most unusual and stimulating Saturday University events in the history of the program, we will premier four collaborations, the stories and struggles behind these genuinely integrative works of scientific art (or artful science—or something that transcends disciplinary boundaries?), and the lessons learned when renowned experts in wildly and wonderfully divergent fields of inquiry and exploration truly listen to one another.
