IMcore

Microscopy Core

Microscopy and the SBC

Microscopy, and particularly confocal laser scanning microscopy, is a took that is required by the SBC investigators. The SBC will enable cutting-edge researcher by integrating new capabilities into the existing Robert A Jenkin’s Microcopy Core Facility.  We will strengthen and expand the capabilities of the existing Microscopy Core by creating an Integrated Microscopy Core (referred to as IMcore). The IMcore expands capabilities of previous microscopy core in both the imaging and service capabilities.

IMcore expansion is currently supported by federal and UW matching funds to SBC. In addition to the space allocated to the Jenkins Microscopy Core (RM 29, basement of Biological Sciences Building, the University of Wyoming has allocated additional lab space to the IMcore. UW's current Robert A Jenkin's Microscopy Core Facility was established during Phase I of the previous Neuroscience COBRE in 2000 and was further developed in Phase II COBRE.  Additional funds to develop the facility were provided by UW INBRE.  The UW Office of Research also provides yearly support to the facility.  To learn more about its microscopes and services, visit it's website at http://www.uwyo.edu/microscopy
