The Science Posse's goals are consistent with the goals of the National Science Foundation Graduate STEM Fellows in K-12 Education (GK-12). 

The Posse's goal for the GK-12 graduate Fellows is for them develop transferable skills and to improve their graduate program outcomes. 

The Posse goal for K-12 education is 

• To increase STEM literacy and interest in STEM careers in our target audience of middle school students. 
• To increase teachers' content knowledge in our target areas of water quality and energy.

The Posse's goals for graduate education at the University of Wyoming include:

To integrate successful components of the G-K-12 program into all graduate programs at the University.

To develop, strengthen and sustain partnerships & collaborations among K-12 schools, UW and private industry.
