Thank you for your interest in the post-baccalaureate teacher certification program at the University of Wyoming. Our program can boast a unique combination of goals: teacher certification combined with potential credit toward a master's degree in education. The program is designed for individuals who have completed a bachelor's degree and who desire to be certified as teachers in Wyoming. Individuals who are qualified for the program will be eligible for teacher certification in an academic year plus the preceding summer. Please note that all courses are only offered on the Laramie campus.
For more information on the areas in which teacher certification is available and for specific course requirements, please visit the Office of Teacher Education website. This website also contains a list of courses that you will take as a part of the post-baccalaureate certification program.
If you are certain that you would like to apply for this program, the first step will be a transcript evaluation, which will be carried out by UW's Office of Teacher Education. You should contact the Office of Teacher Education with questions and to schedule an appointment with an advisor.
In addition, you will need to apply for admission to UW as a Second Bachelor's Degree student in the College of Education. You can find the application on the UW Admissions website. You must also apply for Phase III by the 1st week of December to enter the program in the following May (summer semester). This application is crucial, as residency or student teaching placements are made using this application.
Should you have further questions, please contact the Office of Teacher Education.
