Mary Byrnes, Deputy Director of Energy Outreach
Mary Byrnes, School of Energy Resources Deputy Director of Energy Outreach, develops and directs all outreach programs within SER and the Centers of Excellence. Mary oversees the development, organization and facilitation of SER sponsored conferences, symposia and special events as well as all communications programs. Developing strategic outreach programs that engage policy makers, energy industry stakeholders, academics and the public, Mary plays a key role in providing opportunities for dialogue and knowledge transfer among stakeholders to advance the mission and strategic goals of SER.
Ms. Byrnes came to University of Wyoming in 2008 after serving three years as Commissioner on the Public Service Commission of Wyoming. Prior to the commission, Mary worked as Senior Legislative Analyst in the Legislative Service Office for the Wyoming State Legislature, as Administrator for the State of Wyoming Division of Economic Analysis and Co-Chairman of the state’s Consensus Revenue Estimating Group. Mary has worked as a hydrologist for the Wyoming State Engineer’s Office and served in the United States Peace Corps in Jamaica.
Mary holds a Masters in Agricultural Economics from the University of Wyoming as well as a B.S. in Agricultural Economics from UW. Mary is originally from New Jersey.
