A generous endowment provided by Anadarko Petroleum Corporation will annually fund a prestigious award for PhD students enrolled at the University of Wyoming. The fellowships will be competitively awarded to recognize and advance excellence in energy scholarship at the University of Wyoming. The fellowships will promote innovative and entrepreneurial research in areas aligning with Anadarko's energy portfolio. These areas include but are not limited to oil and gas, environmental stewardship and reclamation, transportation, regulation and policy, health and safety. Visit Anadarko's web site at www.anadarko.com for relevant topic areas.
The fellowship will be awarded for the 2014-2015 academic year through the student's financial aid package.
Up to five $5,000 fellowships (subject to available funding) will be awarded to support PhD students who have completed preliminary examinations and who show outstanding potential.to support a summer or academic year research experience. The term of each fellowship is one academic year.
Funding should demonstrably enhance the awardees' scholarly development by supporting travel, research supplies, and equipment. During the spring semester, recipients will participate in the Energy Research and Development Symposium. The public event will be held at the University of Wyoming and Anadarko fellows will present a synopsis summarizing the project, including significance, results and potential contributions to the energy sector. Fellowship outcomes may include refereed journal articles, intellectual property development and commercialization of innovations, new collaborative research programs and enhanced external funding. Students must maintain full-time enrollment (minimum 9 credit hours) and maintain a UW cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better. Recipients are expected to attend the annual School of Energy Resources awards banquet.
Students currently supported through the School of Energy Resources Graduate Assistantship program are not eligible for the Anadarko Fellowship
