Student Organizations
With more than 200 recognized student organizations (RSOs) on campus, students can find one to fit a diverse set of interests and needs. Here are the most popular RSOs with students in the Energy Resource Management and Development program.
Energy Resources Club
The Energy Resources Club provides UW students with opportunities to explore and expand their knowledge and understanding of energy-based issues. It is open to all students with an interest in energy issues. Past activities include a film festival, field trips to wind farms and power plants, and fun activities such as bowling.
American Association of Petroleum Geologists - Student Chapter
Energy Resource Science students are eligible to join the American Association of Petroleum Geologists Student Chapter housed in the Department of Geology and Geophysics.
The University of Wyoming AAPG Student Chapter offers undergraduate and graduate students exposure to geology and the petroleum industry beyond the classroom. Field trips, lectures and social events are planned throughout the semester, allowing members to interact with other each other, the professors in the department and professions in the petroleum industry. Dues are paid by Chevron. Visit the AAPG web site to learn about the national organization and their student chapter organization.
Energy and Sustainability Club
The Energy and Sustainability Club promotes renewable energy, increases awareness of today's energy conversion methods, and provides education of sustainable energy both on and off campus.
Environment and Natural Resources Student Club
This group connects people around understanding and exploration Laramie's, Wyoming's, and the world's environment and natural resources.
Restoration Outreach and Research (ROaR!)
ROaR! is a venue for students with interests in reclamation and restoration of disturbed lands to help local organizations with projects and to network and gain career skills. All students are welcome. Please email uwroar@gmail.com for more information.
Society of Petroleum Engineers
The Society of Petroleum Engineers is a collective group of undergraduates, graduates, and faculty serving members to further their knowledge in exploration, development, production and mid-stream segment of the oil, gas and related industries.
