Report and Disclosure

Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund Reporting - HEERF II
Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students
University of Wyoming
Sixty Day Report and Disclosure - Funds Fully Spent
June 30, 2021

University of Wyoming (UW) acknowledges it signed and returned to the U.S. Department of Education the Certification and Agreement on April 14, 2020, and gives the assurance that UW intends to use 50% of the funds received for the CRRSAA Act to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students.

    1. The total amount of funds UW received on January 17, 2021, from the Department of Education for distribution to students is $3,306,790.

    2. The total amount of Emergency Financial Aid Grants distributed to students for the CRRSAA Act as June 30, 2021, is $3,306,790.

    3. The estimated total number of students at the institution eligible to participate in programs under Section 484 in Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965 and thus eligible to receive Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students for the CRSSAA Act is 11,517.

    4. The total number of students who have received an Emergency Financial Aid Grant from the CRRSAA Act is 4,191.

    5. The method(s) used to determine which students receive Emergency Financial Aid Grants and how much they would receive from the CRSSA Act is as follows:

      • Be enrolled in an academic credit-bearing degree program, and
      • Be enrolled after the end of the add/ drop period, and
      • Be a US citizen or eligible non-citizen, as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), applicable to the award year which the grant is being awarded, and
      • Have at least one remaining dollar of unmet need ((Cost of Attendance (COA) less Expected Family Contribution (EFC))

If all conditions above are met each student will be awarded a grant following the below method for distribution:

      • The awarding formula will be based on the EFC when compared against the students COA for the term.
      • Pell PGI EFC Ranges CRRSAA Eligible Amount
        $0 $1,100
        $1 - $5,999 $900
        $6,000 - $11,999 $600
        $12,000 - $17,999 $600
        $18,000 & Above $250
      • These funds will be awarded to each student in Banner and applied to their Student Account.
      • Each student will have the opportunity to authorize the University of Wyoming to either refund the grant directly to the student or to apply the grant to their current outstanding account balance.
      • This authorization will be managed in WyoScholarships and shared with the Student Financial Services Office for proper disbursement of the grant.
      • Any pending award after April 13 will be force accepted for the student and the grant will be refunded regardless of any outstanding balance due on their account.
      • Remaining funds will be reviewed to determine how to award.

The remaining funds (approximately $18,000) were divided evenly among students. The targeted population was as follows:

      • Students enrolled in summer school
      • EFC range 0 – 200
      • COA – gift aid with remaining need (loans were excluded)

      Eligible Expenses

      • Food, Housing, Course Materials, Technology, Transportation, Health or Child Care

    6. The funds were awarded and distributed to students based on the above mentioned criteria. The funds were awarded through the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid. The students were required to complete a form authorizing the University of Wyoming to apply their grant to their Student Account balance or to have the grant directly refunded to them. After two weeks any students that did not respond to this request had their grant refunded to them.

The remaining funds were awarded in a block grant to those students attending summer school. This population was reviewed in a similar fashion to the first round of awards with the following exceptions:

The amount awarded was based on the remaining balance divided by the number of eligible students.
