Resident Rate Tuition

For Nonresident Veteran/Dependent Students

Effective for Summer Session 2015, qualified military veteran/dependent students may be eligible for resident tuition rates.  To qualify for this new benefit, nonresident military veteran/dependent students must meet the following qualifications:

A qualifying veteran is defined as:

  • a veteran using VA Education Benefits under the Chapter 33 or Chapter 30 programs, and

  • a veteran who lives in the state of Wyoming,  and

  • enrolls at UW within three years of discharge from a period of active duty service of 90 days or more.

A qualifying dependent is defined as:

  • a spouse or child using transferred benefits who lives in Wyoming and

  • enrolls at UW within three years of the transferor’s discharge from a period of active duty service of 90 days or more, or

  • a spouse or child using benefits under the Marine Gunnery Sergeant John David Fry Scholarship who lives in Wyoming and enrolls at UW within three years of the Service member’s death in the line of duty following a period of active duty service of 90 days or more.

The benefit will also apply for veteran/dependent students who are currently enrolled at UW as of April 1, 2015, if they meet the above qualifications.
