Pokes Vote is a non-partisan cooperative campaign at the University of Wyoming focused on maximizing student civic engagement and leadership development through voter education, registration and turn-out. Pokes Vote is committed to honesty, fairness and the relentless effort to get college-aged students engaged in their democratic community by voting.
Vision - To institutionalize Pokes Vote at the University of Wyoming ensuring a long term commitment to student civic engagement and leadership development through student involvement in the American political process, and to make the students of the University of Wyoming a vital and outspoken portion of the Wyoming electorate.
Pokes Vote Goals-
- Have the voter turnout at the American Heritage Center (AHC) polling place match the State of Wyoming voter turnout in the 2004 General Election (which was 65%).
- Register 85% of UW students as voters
- Make 20,000 contacts over the course of the Pokes Vote campaign.
- Complete 1,500 volunteer hours over the course of the campaign.
- Have appearances by all candidates running for federal office on-campus discussing issues important to students.
- Have local media coverall at all major Pokes Vote events.
- Give access to all UW students the University of Wyoming Student Voter Guide.
