Health Science Research Celebrated Friday |

April 25, 2007 -- University of Wyoming faculty members and students will explain current research and guest speakers will discuss obesity and multiple sclerosis during the Grand Rounds Research Day in the University of Wyoming College for Health Sciences Friday, April 27, from 8:45 a.m.-3:30 p.m. in the Wyoming Union Family Room.
Posters produced by students will be on display in the Senate Chambers throughout the day, and students will present their posters from 2-3 p.m. Faculty researchers will discuss a variety of health science issues in the Family Room.
Keynote speakers are Sally M. Davis, professor, University of New Mexico School of Medicine, Department of Pediatrics, and chief of the Division of Health Promotion and Disease Prevention; and Dr. Allen Bowling, clinical associate professor of neurology, University of Colorado Health Science Center, and director of the Rocky Mountain Multiple Sclerosis Center.
Davis will discuss "Interventions for Preventing Obesity in Children -- Lessons Learned?" at 9 a.m., and Bowling will speak on "Multiple Sclerosis: The Basic and Beyond" at 1 p.m.

10:30 a.m. -- Gail Leedy, professor of social work, "Neurobiology of Post-partum Depression."
10:50 a.m. -- Derek Smith, assistant professor of kinesiology and health, "Physical Activity in American Indian Children: A Community-based Participatory Research Design."
11:10 a.m. -- Krisztina Zajdo, assistant professor of communication disorders, "Utilization of the Vowel Space in Mother's Speech to Young Children."
11:35 a.m. -- Jayne Jenkins, associate professor of kinesiology and health, "Student Perceptions of a Conceptual Physical Education Activity Course."
