Oct. 19, 2005 -- The University of Wyoming Freshman Senate elected its officers and committee chairs for the 2005-06 academic year.
The UW organization is dedicated to helping freshmen students acquire leadership skills, important information, and resources necessary for success at the university.
The new senators will participate in numerous campus and community activities, including providing ex-officio representation in ASUW Senate and on ASUW committees, initiating and writing legislation, volunteering at the Laramie Soup Kitchen, and raising money and walking in the WyoAIDS Walk.
Freshman Senate is a natural channel to future involvement in ASUW Senate, as several former freshmen senators are in ASUW Senate and serve on the Executive or Judicial councils each year.
UW students selected as Freshman Senate officers, listed by hometowns and majors, are:
CASPER -- Nick Heimann, kinesiology, vice president.
CHEYENNE -- Kassi Bauman, political science, freshman living; Jessie Berry, agricultural communication, president; Gary Gonzalez, business administration and political science, public relations; Rebecca Squires, mechanical engineering, minor in business administration, treasurer; Diana Wilson, undeclared, treasurer.
FORT COLLINS, COLO. -- Erin Massey, political science, activity chair.
FRANKTOWN, COLO. -- Kristine Koltiska, international and social work studies, campus and community service.
WHEATLAND -- Brianna Jones, international studies, historian.
WRIGHT -- Shannon Thomas, pre-pharmacy, campus and community service.
