  • Courses may not be taken out of sequence.  The Special Education Masters program begins in the fall semester only, if you were not enrolled in the necessary courses in the fall semester, you will be unable to continue the program in the spring semester.

EDEX 2484- Introduction to Special Education

Designed to meet the needs of education majors for a required course in special education.  Prerequisite: concurrent enrollment or grade of C or better in EDST 2480 and a cumulative GPA of a 2.5 or better.

EDEX 5000. Collaboration and Professional Interdisciplinary Relationships

Represents an opportunity for students to examine and explore a range of consultant concepts in the field of special education. Prerequisites: graduate standing and consent of instructor.

EDEX 5355 Assessment

This course involves the administration and interpretation of psycho-educational tests. These tests provide information which is useful to prescriptive programming and presenting problem resolution. Prerequisites: graduate standing and consent of instructor.

EDEX 5720 Special Education Law

Provides prospective special education teachers and support personnel with an overview of important case and statutory law in special education. Prerequisites: graduate standing and consent of instructor.

EDEX 5071 Teaching Students with Mild and Moderate Disabilities

This course relates theoretical, research, and practical aspects of high incidence mild-moderate disabilities to the teacher, classroom, parents, paraprofessionals, other school personnel and community agencies, all in the effort to help resolve student presenting problems. Prerequisites: graduate standing and consent of instructor.

EDEX 5080 Teaching Students with Severe and Low Incidence Disabilities

This course is designed to provide teachers with the repertoire of instructional, curricular, and behavior analytic skills needed to effectively serve students with severe and low-incidence disabilities.An emphasis on inclusive education and promoting access to the general curriculum will be stressed. Prerequisites: graduate standing and consent of instructor.

EDEX 5100 Special Education Practicum I

This course is designed to allow the student to practice skills and competencies reflected in the Council for Exceptional Children standards. The activities are designed to follow the Wyoming Professional Teaching Standards for Special Education Certificate. Prerequisites: graduate standing and consent of instructor.

EDEX 5110 Positive Behavior Support and Management

This course relates the theoretical, research, and practical strategies for teachers, parents, and paraprofessionals, by which to develop, implement, and evaluate behavior change. Prerequisites: graduate standing and consent of instructor.

EDEX 5120 Academic Instruction in General Education for Students with Disabilities

This course offers teachers appropriate practices and procedures for accommodating children with disabilities in their general education classroom. The focus will be on moving from academic and nonacademic assessments to appropriate teaching and learning in the general education classroom environment. Prerequisites: graduate standing and consent of instructor.

EDEX 5150 Research Applications in the Classroom

Methodology for conducting applied research projects in classroom settings will be discussed. The relationship of applied research to best practices in teaching students with disabilities will be examined. In particular, the value of conducting single-subject research to evaluate educational programs and apply scientifically research will be discussed. Prerequisites: graduate standing and consent of instructor.

EDEX 5200 Special Education Practicum II

EDEX 5250 Assistive Technology and Transition
